By comparison, VRE is one of the smaller commuter systems in the United States, but we have big goals. Our driving focus is to be the safest and most secure passenger commuting option. We strive to meet these standards by embracing communication and consistency and attacking complacency. Our passengers are our friends, family and coworkers and we expect them to arrive home safely each night to their loved ones.
VRE’s security strategy takes a system wide approach and considers the following as our security assets: passengers, the surrounding community, first response agency partners, train crews, our host railroads and the many contractors who support VRE. All of these facets combine to create one community dedicated to the safety of VRE as a rail system.
