Alexandria, VA. CSX Transportation (CSXT) will be performing railroad track and switch upgrades on VRE’s Fredericksburg Line, south of the Fredericksburg Station, beginning May 11 and continuing through May 29, 2015.  This construction will affect both northbound and southbound VRE trains and could delay trains 30 – 45 minutes from May 11-21, and 10 - 20 minutes from May 22-28.

Once complete, capacity, speed and reliability of VRE trains will be improved and delays reduced as trains will be able to switch between four tracks.  This project is a component of upgrading rail service in Virginia by creating a new third track between Washington D.C. and Richmond, VA.

VRE passengers should expect delays and are advised to go to VRE.org, or email GoTrains@VRE.org for additional information.  VRE will send out “TrainTalk” updates throughout the effected period.  Passengers can sign up for “TrainTalk” updates at VRE.org.
